Maritime Career Day & Global Maritime Innovation Hackathon 2024
Sponsored by Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM)
Junior Achievement (JA) Singapore cordially invites your students to participate in our Maritime Career Day & Global Maritime Innovation Hackathon 2024, a challenge focusing on addressing maritime related problems and challenges identified by the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 14 – Life Below Water.
In today’s evolving world, maritime transport and the global shipping industry are instrumental in driving economic growth and sustaining the environment. Recently, on Monday, 25th December 2023, Singapore’s port reached its all-time high of 3 billion gross tons in vessel arrivals in 2023 reflecting the reliability and resilience of Singapore’s maritime sector. Singapore’s success as world’s busiest container transshipment port has contributed significantly to Singapore’s economy, creating jobs and attracting foreign investment.
Thus, our aim for this program is to inspire and empower future generations, introducing young students to the fascinating world of maritime industry, and providing insights into careers and opportunities within the sector.
A global leader in ship management services and integrated maritime solutions and in celebration of World Maritime Day, Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM) has launched an inaugural two-prong Global Maritime initiative in six countries (Cyprus, Greece, India, Philippines, Singapore and Ukraine) involving a Maritime Career Day – introducing youth to the fascinating world of maritime industry and a Global Maritime Innovation Hackathon 2024 with a focus of engaging our youth to experience international collaboration first-hand while developing innovative solutions, enabling them to gain a broader understanding of the global shipping industry and the maritime sector and their significance in the world economy.
