JA Our Families ®

JA Our Families emphasizes the roles people play in the local economy and engages students with activities about needs, wants, jobs, tools and skills, and interdependence.

JA Our Families is a series of five lessons. The average time for each lesson is 60 minutes. Materials are packaged is a self-contained kit that includes detailed lesson plans for the volunteer and materials for students. 


​The goals and objectives of the Program are:
  • increase the students’ knowledge of how jobs provide for a family’s needs and wants;
  • help students become more aware of the types of jobs family members hold;
  • heighten the students’ awareness of how each person contributes to the well-being of the family;
  • help the students learn the importance of working to pay for needs and wants.

All the  materials are packaged in a self-contained kit that includes detailed activity plans for the volunteer and materials for students. All JA programs are designed to support skills and competencies identified by the Partnership for 21st Century Skills. These programmes augment school-based, work-based, and connecting activities for communities with school - to work initiatives.
