JA Personal Finance®

JA Personal Finance program introduces students to the importance of planning for their financial future. The program demonstrates the roles that budgeting, credit, protecting their personal information and insurance play in securing financial stability.  Students develop a portfolio of skills to make financial decisions and set financial goals throughout their lives.
 
JA Personal Finance also introduces students to the importance of making wise financial decisions. The program demonstrates the importance of planning, goal setting, and thoughtful decision-making within the context of personal financial decisions.

Following participation in the program, students will able to: 
  • Examine the role money plays in achieving lifelong personal goals;
  • Make informed financial decisions;
  • Protect themselves against financial pitfalls.
All JA programs are designed to support the skills and competencies identified by the Partnership for 21st Century Skills. These programs also augment school-based, work-based, and connecting activities for communities with school-to-work initiatives. 

Program Concepts

Goal setting, Financial choices, Pay yourself first, Budgeting, Saving, Spending, Investment, Saving, Credit, Identity theft, Fraud, and Insurance

Program Skills

Decision making, Organization, Financial planning, Analyzing information, Oral and written communication, Public speaking, Group work, and Reading comprehension
